David and Pam Called to Serve

Dear Friends and Family,
As most of you know, Pam and I have had a goal to someday serve a mission for our church. We have been married for over 37 years and that someday has arrived. This evening we had a very large gathering of our family in our home as we opened the large white envelope from Salt Lake City addressed to Elder David L. Johnson and Sister Pamela L. Johnson.
Here is what it said:
You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the Dominican Republic Santo Domingo West Mission.
“… you will serve for a period of 18 months.
“… report to the Provo Missionary Training Center on Monday, July 13, 2009
“… your primary duty will be Mission Office Specialists
We are delighted to serve the Lord and his children in the Dominican Republic.
Our business, Watson Flower Shops, will be left in the very capable hands of our sons, Nathan and Jacob and their wives. For the past couple of years they have come on board as part owners and managers. They have our complete confidence in their ability to manage the flower shops.
As we have prepared for this mission call, many of you have expressed your support for us in this undertaking. We value your friendship and thank you for your kind words and prayers.
David and Pam Johnson
