Since Saturday the 25th we have been living with the Mission President and his wife in their guest room. Sister Almonte has been preparing most of our meals. She is a wonderful cook. I don’t know how she does it but she makes everything taste great. And, all of our meals are traditional Dominican food prepared like a Dominican would prepare them. For example tonight we were served boiled green bananas (2 different varieties), boiled hickama, (I think) with fried salami and sautéd red onions, with Queso de Oja. Mmmm Goood!
At noon today was another traditional meal: Orange juice, Rice, white beans in a special sauce, steamed broccoli & cauliflower with lime juice, baked chicken and candy glazed/fried banana’s! Wow, was that ever good. I’ll be lucky if I don’t come home in a year and a half looking like a beach ball!
