The office training is going very slow and frankly overwhelming! There is sooooo much to learn and only a few days to learn it before Elder and Sister Larsen return home to Idaho. Even worse is the lack of organization of all the individual job functions we have to do. There is no master list or master calendar with due dates for every task. There are no step by step instructions to follow either. The larsens say there never was a master list of anything, you just have to remember when it’s due, how to find it and how to do it.

Pam and I pray every day for the ability to accomplish everything we’ve been asked to do, for the mental capacity to absorb all of the instructions and for the physical stamina necessary to get all of the work done on time. It really is a herculean task but with the Lord’s help we will do it all. Pam is still saying “Yo Puedo”, that means “I can”.

Today we Signed papers at the lawyers office to rent an apartment. It is only 3 blocks away from the Mission Office and only 2 blocks (in the other direction) from the Mission Home. It is right in the middle. We will move in tomorrow.

To prepare to move in we had to buy four large deep cycle batteries. They are used as part of an emergency electrical backup system for the apartment. The power in the Dominican Republic is not reliable at all. It usually goes off several times a week and can stay off for long periods of time. The batteries are very large and very heavy, maybe 60 or 70 pounds each. They are not cheap, each one cost 112.00 dollars.
