Today is the big day, our sons and their wives will arrive tonight but first we had a lot of things to do. Hna. Johnson spent the whole day cleaning our apartment before the company arrived. We’ve been deep cleaning for the past two weeks so this was a continuation. She spent hours on each bathroom. (soap scum is very hard to remove) The goal is to get our entire two month cleaning deposit back.
All morning I had several errands to do. First I had to buy a special battery for the remote control to our apartment gate. I had to go to the Bank and cash a check in US Dollars for Dominican Pesos. Last of all, I had to pay all of our utility bills even though they hadn’t come in the mail yet.
This afternoon I went to see Angel Cordero, the vehicle fleet manager at Centro de Servicio. I turned in our Toyota Corolla and he gave us a Honda Odyssey Mini Van to use for the next week while our kids are with us. It’s a beautiful car and will accommodate all six of us very well.
While I was at Centro de Servicio I also picked up supplies for the Neyba and DuvergĂ© branches. Both groups are completely out of sacrament cups and Neyba needs young women’s certificates. We’ll be meeting with the Elders and some of the members on Saturday and delivering their mail and supplies.
Earlier this week we talked to our sons on the phone and they wanted to know how they would find us at the airport. Hna. Johnson said it wouldn’t be difficult at all. “Just Look for the screaming white woman!” We were at the Santo Domingo International Airport at 8:30 but the flight our kids were on was delayed about 45 minutes. Even so it was a grand reunion. There were big hugs all around.
Our sons and daughter-in-laws are finally here. Their day of travel was very long but uneventful. We didn’t get back to our apartment until 10:00pm. We didn’t get done with dinner and conversations until after midnight. We had a lot to talk about. It is so good to have them all here with us.
