What a great Sunday! This afternoon Hna. and I invited the office Elders over for Thanksgiving dinner. Yes, I know it’s not Thursday yet but there is no Thanksgiving Day in the DR so all of the missionaries are required to work their normal schedule on that day. So Sunday afternoon is the best day for all of them to come over for some real American Thanksgiving food.

In addition to the regular 4 office Elders, we also invited the two Elders that are in the office for a few days from the South, Elder Moore and Elder Pratt. Elder Moore is having tests done to determine why he is so sick. He will probably be in the office for a few more days.

The Elders loved their Thanksgiving dinner. For 2 of the missionaries it was their first turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberries, pumpkin pie dinner they’ve ever eaten and they seemed to really like it. The Americans loved it a lot, Elder Grant said it’s the best meal he’s had since he’s been on his mission. He may have exaggerated a little but it probably has been a long time since he’s had an American meal.

Hna. Johnson was disappointed she couldn’t find any Yams for her traditional TG dinner. She has always had it on our table for TG at home. Yesterday we hunted in 3 different supermarkets but couldn’t find any. I guess it is just too American for it to be stocked on the grocery store shelves in the DR.

  2. Wish my daugher, Hna. Lund could have been at your dinner! :) You really spoil the missionaries. You are an amazing couple. God bless you for your kind efforts in behalf of our children.
