Today Hna. Johnson and I went shopping at our two favorite stores. This morning we went to PriceSmart and this evening we went to Jumbo. We had a lot of shopping to do because this weekend is the “Super Baptism” and “Noche de Amistad” in Neyba. Literally translated it means “Friendship Night” but it really is an “Open House” and “Meet your Mormon Neighbors” night rolled into one. The Elders in Neyba are putting a lot of planning and work into it. It is going to be a very big and important evening with a program, movie and BBQ.

Hna. Johnson and I are buying all of the food and refreshments for the “Noche de Amistad” plus a lot of items the Elders in Neyba and Duvergé have requested for themselves personally. We are literally going to have a car load of stuff when we head out to Neyba this Saturday. The missionaries in small pueblos in remote areas don’t have access to regular stores like the missionaries do in the city. One of the services we provide for them is to take their orders on the phone, buy the items in the capital and deliver it to them the next time we pass their way. This week will be a huge delivery to Neyba and Duvergé.

Before we started shopping at Jumbo tonight Hna. Johnson and I discovered the “Food Court” so now we have another reason to really like shopping at Jumbo. They have a Wendy’s, Quisnos, Berger King, Papa John’s Pizza, plus a bunch more restaurants. We ate our dinner at Berger King and it was just like home; a delicious burger with charbroiled flavor and all the trimmings. And just like home… they even managed to get my order wrong. But it was sure good.

While we were shopping at PriceSmart & Jumbo, Hna Johnson bought herself Christmas presents. Sure it’s a little early but Hna Johnson believes you can never decorate for Christmas too early. One of the items she bought was a Dominican Nativity set. A couple of weeks ago she saw it and fell in love with it. Then for the next 2 weeks she regretted not buying it on the spot. She kept lamenting, “It will be gone, they will be out, I should have bought it, I should go back, etc…” Well, it was still there and now she can’t wait to decorate our apartment for Christmas. It is going to look great.
