The office is really hopping, so much to do and so little time to do it all. Today was our first full day with our new office Elders, Elder Huey and Elder Barquero. We spent much of the morning running “Diligencias” (Errands) for the mission. We had to go to 3 different banks and pay bills at two different businesses. I get to teach Elder Huey and Elder Barquero everything I know about my duties and driving in the capital. Elder Huey has been driving in the capital for some time now and he does a great job. He is already quite “Dominicanized”!

In the afternoon Elder Huey and Elder Barquero worked with Hna. Johnson on mission finances. Both Elders are going to have to learn Hna. Johnson’s job. I think it will take two Elders to replace her!

We also have a new Elder in the office to input “Registros Bautismales” (Baptism Records) into the mission office computers 3 or 4 times a week. Elder Tyler Anderson’s old companion was Elder Thorup. Elder Thorup has finished his 2 years of dedicated service. Hna. Johnson and I have worked very closely with him for the past 5 months and we will miss him. Elder Anderson’s new companion is Elder David Kirschman, an excellent missionary. He will do a great job in the office. He goes home in only 3 months.

We had special guests in the office today. Elder Bradley Thorup’s parents have come to the DR to pick up their son. They will spend a few days with him visiting some of his old areas and visiting some of the people he has grown to know and love. They will also visit a lot of the sights Elder Thorup wasn’t able to see while he was on his mission.

I think that picking up your missionary after his or her mission is one of the best things a parent can do with their son or daughter. Hna. Johnson and I did it six times with our six sons. It was a blessing and a joy to meet their converts, their friends, and visit the countries/states they served in.
