This evening the Seniors in the capital all celebrated American’s independence by having a real BBQ at the “Casa”. (OK so it’s the 5th of July not the fourth but Sunday was out of the question.) Everyone came including the Non US citizens and there are a few of them. We had a wonderful dinner and program.
Hna. Johnson’s assignment was baked beans. Simple enough right? Well, the ingredients took us 3 grocery stores to find. Real Baked beans are not in the Dominican Diet so it was harder than expected. Then there was a day and a half of preparation, soaking, chopping, dicing, cooking, baking etc. In the end it was all worth it. Hna. Johnson’s baked beans were great.
