Sunday, July 4, 2010 (Independence Day)

Today is the 4th of July, a day we celebrate American independence. I might interest you to know that the 4th of July is on the Dominican Calendar too! It is on their calendars but of course it’s not a holiday here, it’s just another day like any other, it comes right after the 3rd of July and right before the 5th of July.

Hna. Johnson did commemorate the 4th of July with “Blue Mountain” greeting cards sent to all of the members of her family.

Today in Primary Hna. Johnson enjoyed a very good time in the Primary nursery. She had no annoying interruptions by renegade children that escaped from other primary classes. There weren’t many AWOL children marauding the halls because there weren’t very many families at church today. School is out in the DR and it appears that Dominicans leave on summer vacation here just like in the states. Or… Maybe they really do observe the 4th of July here?
