We were off at 7:45am to the “Casa de Huespedes” to meet with the other Senior couples. We left at about 9:00 for President Almonte’s cabin in the mountains. We will be gone for 4 days, Thursday thru Sunday. Our group includes Elder & Sister Jones and their son, Chris, and Daughter-in-law, Brittany. We also had Elder and Hna. Finlayson, Elder & Hna. Berkley and us.

It was a little after noon when we got to the President’s cabin. After lunch we took the river walk with the whole group. We had a good time; there were more tropical flowers on bloom than there were a month ago when we came with the Roberts. Also everything is greener now. They’ve been having rain for the past 3 weeks and so the countryside has recovered a lot. I really enjoy taking pictures of the pretty flowers.

This evening we made some discoveries. First the refrigerator was broken which required some creative shifting of food to new storage locations. The ladies discovered that the “No-see-ums” had bitten them very badly while they were on the river walk. Ouch! And finally we discovered fire flies. The power in the neighborhood went out so everything was dark outside. There were fire flies everywhere. If the power hadn’t gone out we would have never seen them. But you know what? It is impossible to take a picture of a glowing firefly in the dark. I tried and even leaving the camera shutter open didn’t let in enough light from the fire fly to produce an image.
