Our 20 minute drive to church at Los Arroyos Branch takes us past the “Botanical Gardens” here in the capital. Traffic is always light but today we drove past a bicycling event that had some of the roads closed off for the cyclists around the gardens. Normally the road closures would have been marked with yellow “Caution” tape. Sometimes it says “Danger”, etc. I found it odd that the “Caution” tape for this event was green and it said “Gatorade”!
This morning Hna. Johnson wasn’t feeling well but we went to church anyway. I was able to help her in the Primary nursery because I don’t teach until next Sunday. With an extra pair of hands in the nursery Hna. Johnson did fine. I really enjoyed the time with the 7 children in today’s nursery. I got to help the children assemble puzzles, help color their lesson sheets, put stickers on their lesson pictures and play catch with the beach ball I got to inflate. The children and I had a good time.
Today two new members were confirmed at the beginning of Fast & Testimony meeting. They were baptized last evening in the chapel baptistery. Elder Frankjul Soriano and Elder Noe Saint-Hilaire have been teaching the Mother and son (Hna. Inocencia Palanco Paredez & her son, Leandro Saldaño Polanco) for several weeks and they have been out to church several times in the past. This will be Elder Soriano’s last baptism of his mission. He goes home to San Pedro de Macorís, a town near the capital, this “Traslado” next Tuesday.
