Lately there has been a lot of emphasis on preparing the mission office for the visit of the Area President, Pres. ViƱas, next week. For the past week Hna. Johnson has used every free minute she has had to sort, rearrange and clean everything in the mission office upstairs. Again today she worked tirelessly cleaning everything, hauling boxes to the trash, etc. The offices and all its storage rooms have never looked so good.

Down stairs in the Elders quarters the cleaning has been going on too. Last week the office Elders got a lot done and this week looked like it was going to be just finishing up the last odds and ends. Well, I was wrong.

When Hna. Johnson and I returned to the office after lunch we discovered a whole new flurry of activity downstairs in the Elder’s quarters as well as in the entry way into the office. I don’t know when or even who made the discussion but the Elders are well into the preparations to completely paint the downstairs portion of the mission office and the office Elder’s quarters. This is a huge undertaking. The Elders where hauling furniture, scraping walls and removing loose plaster.

On our way home after work, Hna. Johnson and I stopped at the little flower shop inside Bravo’s parking garage under the store. We had a lot of flowers to purchase. Today Hna. Johnson received another request to make flower arrangements. This time it is for the Institute of Religion on the campus of the University here in Santo Domingo. The real shock was how soon they wanted them done. They want to come by the mission office and pick them up at 2:00pm tomorrow.
