My stop at the airport took me the longest, over 3 hours, but it was worth it. I finally got my repaired hearing aids out of customs (See Monday, August 3rd). Yahoo! Now I can hear again. My 3 hour experience at the air port/cargo terminal/FedEx/Customs/etc. was made a little easier by two escorts that were assigned to me by the company that manages the airport. They were with me through all of the “Red Tape”, standing in lines, and fighting with customs officials. In the end I finally got my FedEx package that contained my repaired hearing aids. The biggest issue that cost me so much time and money was the value placed on the FedEx box by the hearing aid repair people. So… a note of warning; don’t ship anything to the Dominican Republic with a value more than $200.00US. The customs hassle is a nightmare.
